Hospitality Management Department Learning Goals

All Whittemore School of Business and Economics programs have enumerated specific learning goals to help define and measure outcomes. The learning goals for the Bachelor of Science degree in the Hospitality Management program were developed by faculty in collaboration with external advisory boards. The goals of the program are:

  • Students will demonstrate broad knowledge of and proficiency
    in the core functional and support areas of business.
  • Students will demonstrate specific competence in a variety of
    operational aspects within the hospitality industry.
  • Students will demonstrate effective written and
    oral communications skills, in various forms.
  • Students will incorporate an understanding of ethical, social,
    and legal issues in reaching business-related decisions.
  • Students will creatively and critically apply the knowledge and
    technological skills in identifying and solving business problems.
  • Instill in students the desire to engage in life-long learning, as
    demonstrated by ongoing personal and professional development.
