Mollie Katzen, the New York Times best-selling cookbook author who is credited with moving healthful vegetarian food from the fringe to the center of the American dinner plate, has been named to the University of New Hampshire EcoGastronomy advisory board.

A recent study creating a valuable measurement tool for the restaurant service industry will be published in Managing Service Quality as part of the January 2010 issue. “We are excited about this new measurement scale.

The University of New Hampshire is hosting a group of Italian students this summer who are the first foreign exchange students to participate in the university's new EcoGastronomy dual major, the first such program at any U.S. university.

This fall, a group of UNH students will spend the semester at the University of Gastronomic Sciences as part of the joint exchange program. While in Italy, UNH students will complete a series of upper-level core courses such as history of cuisine and gastronomy, food communication, aesthetics, food and wine tourism, food business economics and sensory analysis.

Officials with the University of New Hampshire's hospitality education program say they're confident the upcoming closure of the New England Center won't have a negative affect on the program's students.
