Dr. Dev Dutta joined the Whittemore School of Business and Economics in 2007 after obtaining his doctorate in Business Administration (with dual specializations in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship) from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Dev's primary research interest is in the intersection area of competitive strategy and competitive dynamics, two sub-fields within strategic management. He is also interested in exploring the impact of different competitive contexts (e.g., hypercompetition, globalization, and nascent entrepreneurial settings) on strategic management. Dev's teaching interests span the subjects of strategic management, international business, and entrepreneurship.

Dev's research has been published in prestigious entrepreneurship journals such as the Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. In addition, he has book chapters on learning organizations and organizational virtuality, respectively, in edited volumes published by the Idea Group, Inc. He has also presented his research at many national and international conferences in North America, Europe and India.

Before pursuing his PhD studies, Dev worked for over twelve years as a strategy consultant in the Indian IT industry and was Group Leader, Management Consulting at TCS Limited - India's largest software solutions and services company.

Dev's prior academic degrees are in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Finance. He is also a Certified Quality Analyst (CQA) from the Quality Assurance Institute, USA.
