Class Trip to NYC

Our class trip over spring break to NYC was, by all accounts, very successful.  We visited the AICPA, the SEC, the PCAOB, Fred Whittemore and IBM's Disaster recovery site.  Opinions varied as to the individual appeal of each presentation.  I usually focus on something of minor interest to everyone else, but our trip featured something to interest everyone.

Two professors went with us--Bill Knowles and Afshad Irani.  We had a lot of free time, but it was mostly in the evening.  With the younger group (remember I'm a "non-trad") most of the student interest focused on NYC nightlife.  We saw the musical "Spring Awakening" which was incredible and powerful, but there were opportunities to venture out on our own to see other plays or go to restaurants.  One of our classmates has spent a LOT of time in the city and he was a wonderful guide.  I think next year they are not planning to go during spring break which is probably a good idea since we all felt the need to decompress during that week and catch us on little things we had put off.

All things considered, it is a trip to look forward to.  I would recommend writing away for tickets to see the filming of a Letterman Show several months ahead --that is the only thing missing in my book!
